Safes & Cabinet Locks

We Keep Valuables Safe

Relax With Our Quality Safe and Cabinet Locks!

Employees may break into hotel safes through ‘back doors’ or with a master key, or code to access valuables. Your hotel will get a bad reputation. And you will spend lots of money replacing valuables. Worse, some official documents (like social security cards) may not be replaceable. That can compromise your guests’ financial security.

You are not protecting your guests’ valuables or your reputation with regular safes. You’re better off with smart safes. But, they are sophisticated. So, you probably won’t find their keys at your local hardware store. Locksmith companies sell them though.

However, don’t Google the best locksmiths near me or ask for a reference. They may have an average track record. So they may not keep cabinets and safes very secure. We’ve been in business in Fairfax, VA for 20 years, so our professional locksmiths are always courteous and do exceptional work.  Call us at (703) 509-8600 for a quote.

Installing New Cabinet Locks

We service these cabinet locks:

Keyed Cam Lock

A cam lock is a metal plate that is attached to a lock. The plate rises up and secures the cabinet when you lock it. It turns downward when you unlock it; and you can open the cabinet.

We service all cam lock types:

    • Keyed alike–You need a single key for all locks.
    • Keyed different–A different key opens each lock.
    • Master system–A master key opens all locks.

Tubular Locks

Some people call them radial or ace locks. It’s a pin tumbler lock, and has pins around its keyhole. A round, cylindrical key opens it. Tubular locks open when their key’s grooves align with pin positions.

They are in bikes, computers, vending machines, washing machines, arcade games, and other coin-operated device locks. Tubular locks are secure.

Companies using display cases and tool boxes, elevators, subway gates, train engines, and filing cabinets also have them.

We service many tubular lock brands, including:

  • ACE/Chicago Lock Company–It is the oldest and most popular manufacturer. Their locks are in kiosks and vending machines.
  • Abloy–They are extremely secure Finnish locks. That’s why government agencies and manufacturing plants use them.
  • Kaba (Dormakaba)–It’s more secure. So it is in cabinets, lockers, and safes.

Combination Locks

Combination locks are everywhere. Most of them have three cams. One cam is metal and attached to the front of the lock. The other two are plastic and are separated by two plastic spacers. There is a groove on the bottom of the cams. Their locks have a latch that connects to a hasp.

Combo locks open when their grooves align. The latch goes into the grooves and releases the hasp. So, you can’t open the lock if you don’t know its code.

We service electric and mechanical  combination locks.

Smart lock system

Electronic Locks

Businesses use electronic locks because they secure valuables and sensitive documents well. Owners don’t worry about physical keys and they control who opens the locks. Over 78% of businesses use them.

Standalone Locks

They use batteries. Smaller and simpler businesses use them since they are easy to install and maintain.

Networked Locks

Networked locks use the Internet. Facilities with centrally controlled locks use them because they have enhanced features, including audit trails and real-time alerts.

Smart Locks

You can wire smart locks to your home and control them from a smartphone app. They work with Alexa, Google Home and similar devices, and respond to voice commands. Smart locks are very convenient and more secure than other electronic cabinet locks

Why a Locksmith Must Install Your Cabinets’ Locks

Think that you can install cabinet locks yourself after reading DIY books and watching DIY YouTube videos? Think again! It’s not an easy and simple job. Also, DIY books and YouTube videos don’t teach much about installing cabinet locks, even though they say they do.

Locksmiths learn about cabinet locks (including many that people don’t know about) in trade schools! They learn how to install, repair, replace, and troubleshoot cabinet locks.  DIY books and videos may only briefly discuss these areas.

They know which locks are best for your cabinets. And since you’re not trained in installation and troubleshooting, you may make a bad mistake. You don’t want that.

Locksmiths use specialized and professional tools to install cabinet locks properly.

Safe Lock Mechanism Installation

You want to keep heirlooms and valuables safe. Same for sensitive business information. That’s, you need a lock that can’t be picked or opened with a master key. It can’t have a ‘back door’ either. You need safe lock mechanism installation services.

Mechanical Safe Locks

If you’re looking for a great locksmith for safes, give us a call. Our locksmiths know how how to install, maintain, repair, and service mechanical safe locks. They use specialized tools to install quality locks to keep unauthorized people out.

Our locksmiths replace an older or broken lock with a more effective smart or biometric lock. We can safely open locks if you forget the combination. You’d probably struggle with that task if you try to DIY, even if you watch a lot of DIY YouTube videos on the topic.

A commercial locksmith can use specialized and sophisticated tools and procedures to change a lock’s combination. That comes in handy if you have to fire an employee. They repair locks by fixing internal part issues like jammed dials or improperly aligned tumblers.

Digital and Electronic Safe Locks

We offer the following electronic and digital safe lock services.

Safecracking

Our safe opening service will help if you ever forget or lose the combination or digital key to your safe. Our locksmith will open your lock by listening to its contact points when turning it. Don’t try it yourself. It’s complicated and you need specialized training and experience to do it.

Locksmiths use approved methods to safely drill into and open your lock.

Emergency Safe Opening

Call us if you have an emergency and need your safe opened. We offer many safe manipulation services:

  • Safe manipulation
  • Safe drilling
  • Safe scoping
  • Key duplication

Safe Manipulation

Safe manipulation is a common safe opening service. Locksmiths use it if they don’t have a safe key or combination. Some call it safe cracking, and it takes a while to do. So, you shouldn’t try it. Locksmiths use the process of elimination to open your safe by guessing the right combination. The process generally takes several hours. That’s why most locksmiths use software when doing safe manipulation.

Safe Drilling

Our locksmiths will drill through the side of your safe if they can’t open it through manipulation. They may  drill your safe apart to open it.

Safe Scoping

Locksmiths use a boroscope to find the right combination. They drill a tiny hole in your safe, insert the boroscope, and open your safe. It’s a safe, inexpensive, and practical safe opening service.

Key Duplication

We’ll make a duplicate key for you if you ever lose your safe key. We make a mold of your lock to do so.

Safe Unlock

We use specialized tools to unlock your safe.

Safe Key Replacement

Our locksmiths can create keys for your safe’s model if you ever lose its keys. They create specialized key codes if you forget your combination as well. We’ll need the screenshot or printout of your safe order, a government-issued photo ID, and a picture of the front of the safe to do the replacement.

Electronic Safe Lock Hacking

Locksmiths analyze how your safe uses power or varies timing to crack its code. They don’t need to interact with the device directly to do that. They can also use its default recovery code to open it.

Forgotten Combination Recovery

Our locksmiths will search for your safe’s recovery key if you have forgotten the combination. They can open your safe with that. They will call the manufacturer and ask for the factory code if they can’t find the recovery key.

Lost Safe Combination Recovery

Our locksmith will open your mechanical safe with combination decoding. Expect the locksmith to verify that you legally own the safe first. Then he or she will use special tools to manipulate the lock or listen to the lock’s sounds when turning the dial to learn the code. As a last resort, he or she will drill a hole in the safe and open it with a boroscope. They override the electronic code if you have a digital safe.

GSA Safe Opening

GSA stands for the US General Services Administration. The American government strictly uses GSA certified locks on its safes. Our locksmiths are GSA-certified. They follow strict protocols and repair procedures when opening the safes. Government regulations require the locksmiths to “neutralize” GSA safes after opening them.

Locksmiths clean and ‘grease’ worn-out parts to help them work properly. They replace parts that are too worn down to fix. They will repair or replace the lock afterwards.
